50 years ago Rooty Hill RSL Club started operating as a fully licensed club in a modest premise located in Rooty Hill.
The RSL had operated as an unlicensed facility for three years at this location and when the doors were officially opened on February 29, 1964, the membership was at 127 members. In the 50 years since this membership base has grown to over 48,000 members!
The club’s current location is on the Corner of Railway Street & Sherbrooke Street and this impressive building was opened in June 1972. The best parking and entry is 33 Railway St, Rooty Hill.
Since then there have been several major developments over the past four decades: Fred Chubb Lounge (1974), Tivoli Showroom (1976), Minchins Restaurant (1996), FreddChubb Lounge and Stardust Cafe (2000), TAB/Sports Lounge (2003), Waratah Room (2006), Zest Grill House (2007) and in 2017 we opened our newest dining outlet Made By The Hill cafe and bar. In May 2008 we launched our new $5.5 million health & fitness facility, SGAC Health Fitness Aquatic. With many group fitness classes as well as state of the art fitness equipment it is the largest fitness centre in western Sydney. 2013 saw the completion of the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre.
In August 2018 it was announced that Western Sydney’s new headquarters for entertainment, dining and leisure, West HQ, would become the new home of not only the iconic Rooty Hill RSL, but also One55 Health & Fitness, Sydney Gymnastic& Aquatic Centre, Novotel Sydney West HQ, Zone Bowling, and the Sydney Coliseum Theatre.
The unprecedented growth of Rooty Hill RSL resulted in more facilities making the destination their home, which formed the basis of West HQ. From an RSL that was constructed on two suburban building blocks, West HQ now covers an area of about nine hectares (20 acres).
As part of West HQ, Rooty Hill RSL has become a beacon of entertainment and leisure for the surrounding community. Moving forward, we hope to continue to provide services to our 60,000 members as we continue to grow as the heart of Western Sydney.

The Liquor Licensing Act aims to ensure that those who consume alcohol only do so in a responsible manner. Rooty Hill RSL Club is committed to the principles of responsible service of alcohol. All employees must adhere to the following responsible service of alcohol practices, below is an extract of Rooty Hill RSL Club's policy on Responsible service of Alcohol:

Intoxicated persons will be refused service of liquor.

A notable change in behaviour, especially antisocial, inappropriate or violent behaviour, use of abusive language
Slurring of, or mistakes in speech
Clumsiness, knocking things over (like a drink or ashtray), or fumbling with change
A significant loss of co-ordination (usually swaggering or swaying)
A degree of confusion, a lack of understanding or ability to hear, and a difficulty in responding
Physical illness such as vomiting
Responsible service of alcohol is becoming increasingly more relevant and you should be aware that serious offences are handed out to both licensees and individual bar employees who don't adhere to these guidelines.
In NSW the current applicable penalty is a maximum $5000 fine for the following offences:
