This series of predominantly acoustic shows will include Carpenter Caswell, Smith & Jones, The April Family (and a short opening set by Allan Caswell). The format of the show is a true revue played out over two 75 minute sets, with each act showcasing their own material, as well as communal performances between the ensembles.
Carpenter Caswell, are a new duo, but in name only. Allan Caswell is an Australian artist that needs no introduction. Arguably Australia’s most recorded songwriter in any genre, his career spans over 4 decades in the country music world. As an artist his much celebrated career continues to evolve, including this new collaboration with Michael Carpenter. Carpenter himself is no stranger to the Australian music scene. A singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer-engineer with well over 3 decades of involvement in the industry, he’s no slouch in the experience department. Together they’ve created the duo’s self titled debut album. The album showcases the duo’s unique interpretation of ‘Austracana’ – Australian Alternative Country music. The album (including 3 top ten singles), and the show they’ve put together to showcase it, takes the audience on a trip through the creative minds of 2 great Australian songwriters, and the way they see the world after a few years of being in it!
Smith and Jones are a new duo from Bathurst. They play an undefinable mix of original country, folk and jazz, with a unique emotive power. Their dynamic and wildly entertaining live show, as well as their recent #1 single on Australian Country Radio, has made them local heroes, selling out every show in their home town and surrounding areas. With their recently released debut album “Dark Gives Way”, and a rigorous performing schedule up and down the East Coast, they have started to make inroads into the Australian Country music audience.
